JFK's Sailboat ConfiscatedFederal
drug agents have seized the Star Class sloop "Flash II", once owned by
a young John F. Kennedy, in one of those forfeiture cases. The
affidavit filed in support of the seizure warrant claimed a current
owner had obtained the boat with funds procured from marijuana sales, a
charge the named party has, of course, denied. The whole forfeiture
issue aside, I'm a bit unhappy that this historic boat is involved. The
guy is said to have been restoring Flash II in hopes of selling it and
making over a million off the Presidential association. I'm all for
free enterprise, but we're talking about the beloved sailboat of
arguably the most beloved U.S. President. Shouldn't it be in a maritime
museum, somewhere?
