Rehearing Rejected on Groundless Cash Seizure

The Drug Enforcement Administration did not have probable cause to take
$242,484 from a woman at Miami International Airport in December 1998, the
11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday. The ruling signals shifting
court treatment of forfeiture cases in light of a federal law that makes it
harder for the government to seize money, property or other assets.
