Cops Accused Of Stealing Confiscated Drug Money

PHILADELPHIA (KYW) Philadelphia police say two members of the elite
narcotics unit face a long list of charges after being accused of stealing
confiscated drug money.

CBS 3's Robin Mackintosh reports Cpl. Stanford Jones, a 14-year veteran,
and Officer John Hargraves, an eight-year veteran, turned themselves in to
police on Tuesday afternoon. Police say they are accused of stealing more
than $4,000 in drug money combined.

Police allege Jones took an estimated $3,000 in two incidents this year;
authorities say Hargraves allegedly took around $1,500 during four
occasions over the last three years.

Police accuse them of confiscating the drug money, filling out the

property

receipts, but never turning in the cash.

Authorities said there was no relationship between the two cases, and
wouldn't say why both men had been arrested on the same day.

Mackintosh reports they had been on desk duty since the Internal Affairs
investigation began and are now suspended, with intent to dismiss.
