FBI seizes man's home

The Associated Press

OLIVE BRANCH — Expensive cars and a home were seized this week in Olive
Branch by federal authorities investigating thefts from the Memphis police
property and evidence room.

On Tuesday, FBI agents confiscated the home and vehicles and arrested a man
identified as Eric Brown.

"We seized the home and several vehicles down there that were listed in the
criminal indictment," Bill Woerner, supervisory Special Agent with the
bureau in Memphis, said Friday.

He said Brown was not a former employee of the Memphis Police Department
but is named as one of the suspects in the investigation that saw drugs,
guns and other items taken from the property room and sold on the street.

The police property and evidence room is where drugs seized in police
raids, stolen goods and weapons are kept.

Two Memphis Police Department workers were among 16 people identified
Tuesday in federal indictments that link the evidence room thefts to a
cocaine ring with ties to Atlanta.

Federal agents this week arrested Kenneth Dansberry, 41, a property room
shift supervisor and 21-year employee of the police department, and Carl
Edward Johnson, 42, a senior inventory control clerk who was hired in 1999.
