Recent news stories from Canada (and Great Britain and Australia!) have
displayed their enthusiastic support of "fighting crime" by using civil
forfeiture, thereby bypassing the annoying problem of "civil" societies of
having to actually prove an accused is guilty before you take his property. Of
course this is the news media talking and I would assume that in Canada as it is
here, the media is more of an outlet for government views rather than public
views. In any case, you would think that they would at least be aware of the
tragic consequences of the governments in the USA following this path about 20
years ago.
Obviously, the citizens need to get active in fighting this government
tyranny or they will quickly find that they are in the same mess we are in with
no easy way to get out of it. So, my question is, does anyone know of any
organization in Canada that is organized to fight forfeiture? If so, we need to
get together.
If no such organization exists, would anyone be interested in starting
one?
