So El Cajon, California has decided prostitution is such a
heinous "crime" that they needed to pass yet another law to "teach a
lesson." In another month, they will begin stealing anyone's car who
solicits a prostitute. And they think that will solve their problem and
make customers and providers disappear!!! Yeah, right. We believe
that about as much as we believe the city attorney's stupid statement that,
"The intent is not to make money." In the infamous words of John
Stossel - GIVE ME A BREAK.
I am a former LEGAL bordello courtesan
who gained international celebrity in the mid-1990s when I competed in a state
beauty contest to demonstrate "red light ladies" are no different from women
everywhere.
I became very involved in politics in an effort to
give a voice to those that go unheard - and to try to bring some common sense
back to those that are supposed to serve our wishes. I ran for U.S.
House of Representatives from Nevada, placing second in the primary election.
In 1998, I ran for Nevada Lt. Governor, finishing third in a field of
nine.
I am a published author - FROM BORDELLO TO BALLOT BOX - and
currently write columns on constitutional issues for a newspaper and a liberty
magazine. One of my columns was titled, "Bandits With Badges" and that is
what they have become. I spent the past year in Ruby Ridge writing my
second book on the loss of our individual liberties since 9-11 and the ill-named
Patriot Act . . . and focus on the tyranny created by U.S. Attorney General John
Ashcrap - ooops, must be a typo - meant to say Ashcroft.
That said . . .
it's fair to say I have a pretty well rounded view of the issue of prostitution
and the stupidity of laws such as the one passed in the Land of Fruit and Nuts.
Prostitution is not a crime. It is a business arrangement where
one person offers a service that another person is willing to pay for. Our
government should never be in the business of legislating morality.
What one does sexually is no one else's business unless it harms
another.. In the bordellos, that is never the case. On the streets,
it is a different matter only because when something is declared illegal, it
creates a black market and an underground world where crime CAN occur. We
should have learned that lesson from the futility of Prohibition. Nevada's
legal brothels prove my point. The brothels are like visiting a friend's
living room and being able to visit with lots of friends. It is safe and
comfortable and if a gentleman chooses to party - fine; if he doesn't, he is
still treated like a guest and invited to return. Crime simply does not
happen in the houses. Legalizing would totally change the street scene and
cops could concentrate on REAL crime . . . not manufactured "crime" for the sole
purpose of boosting city coffers.
For the city attorney to claim this is
not a money issue is ludicrous. We aren't stupid. Of course it's
about money. And about destroying the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.
What was once an agency of service (law enforcement) has now become a
lucrative business of profit. Cops are trained as military units - not
officers involved in the community.
Notice the article stated
vehicles will be seized upon ARREST - not conviction. I guess Jay Leno had
it right when he said, "We are over in Iraq trying to devise a new
constitution for them. Why don't we just give them ours? We're not
using it any more."
How much more are we, as citizens, going to
allow? Where do we draw the line? When do we put a stop to it?
As far as I can see, we are so far past discussions and reason that the
only way we are going to change this mess is to LOCK AND LOAD.
