On Wednesday March 31, Scott Bullock will argue the case State of New
Jersey v. One 1990 Ford Thunderbird in the court of appeals. This is
the excellent ground-breaking case in which he convinced the trial court
that allowing prosecutors to benefit financially from the forfeiture
cases they prosecute violates Due Process.
Today we posted the trial court opinion and Scott's opening brief on the
FEAR website. Check the What's New at FEAR page for links to these
documents. Scroll a little farther down on the What's New page and
you'll see important news about Mark Clausen's victory in a tentative
ruling against the Richmond, California forfeiture ordinance -- in which
the California court followed Scott's New Jersey precedent!
Scott Bullock is a senior staff attorney for the Washington D.C.
nonprofit Institute for Justice, and also serves as Vice President of
the FEAR board of directors. Mark Clausen is a new member of FEAR's
board of directors.
Looks like we're on a roll!
